Checklist getting married right after the engagement

Planning your wedding actually starts right after the engagement. Of course you can first enjoy the idea that you are getting married and maybe you also like to have engagement photos taken. After that, it is important that you do the following:

  • Determine budget: Once you have determined the budget for your wedding, much more becomes clear. Based on this, you can make important choices. Will it be a budget wedding or are you going for an extensive wedding day with all the trimmings?
  • Create guest list: Then it is smart to think about which guests you all want to invite to the wedding. The larger the guest list, the higher the costs will be. If your budget is tight, you will have to adjust the guest list accordingly.
  • Set date and wedding location: Most couples start preparing about a year before they get married. It can be smart to immediately record your wedding location, so that you are sure that there is room. Certain locations fill up quickly, especially in high season.

Checklist 4 to 6 months before the wedding

Of course it is nice if you have already recorded the most important things a few months before the wedding. In the summer months you have to be on time everywhere. So don't wait too long with planning the following parts of your wedding:

  • Book a photographer: A good wedding photographer is an important part of the wedding. After all, he or she will take care of capturing one of the most special days of your life.   • Buying wedding rings: Most bridal couples exchange wedding rings during the ceremony. You should wear this special ring for the rest of your life, so it is important to take the time to choose it.
  • Banning bans: In the past you had to make an official appointment with the municipality to give bans, nowadays you can do this at home from the couch. With a few clicks on the internet you will receive an electronic confirmation of the marriage certificate. However, this should still be done no more than two weeks before the wedding. So you better have it arranged on time!
  • Ordering a wedding cake: Did you know that even for the wedding cake you have to make a lot of choices? So let yourself be well informed by a good confectioner.
  • Arranging music: Will there be a band or a DJ at your wedding? Or maybe both? The music is very important for the atmosphere and so it is smart to delve into this in time.
  • Choosing food: Catering is also an important part of the wedding. After all, you don't want the guests to get hungry. Therefore, always make sure that there is sufficient food and drink available.

Checklist 2 to 3 months before the wedding

The wedding is getting closer and closer. If all goes well, the broad outlines have already been determined. Now it's time to cross off the following items from your wedding checklist:

  • Arranging flowers: Flowers are beautiful as decoration and of course you need them for your bridal bouquet. Make an appointment with the florist to discuss your wishes.

Checklist 1 month before the wedding

A month before the wedding, the major preparations have already been made. Just think about things like:

  • Trial makeup and bridal hairstyle: It is smart to book a trial session with the hairdresser and makeup artist in advance so that you are sure that everything is to your liking.
  • Set the table: Do you have a traditional dinner at your wedding? Then it is important to think carefully about the table arrangement in advance. People will probably sit in a certain place for a few hours and then it is nice if they get on well with their neighbors.
  • Compiling a script: Also make sure that you have a clear script in which all parts of the wedding are described. This is not only useful for yourself, but also for the master of ceremonies and suppliers.

Checklist 1 week before the wedding

Tension will mount in the final week before the wedding. Fortunately, little more needs to be done. Only the following things:

  • Packing suitcases: Are you going on a honeymoon right after the wedding? Then get the suitcases ready!
  • Check everything: Have a final check where you go through everything one more time. This takes some of the tension away.
